There is a secret to productivity. This secret can give you a lifetime of happiness, mindfulness and peace. And you can use this secret every day. So here it is: Devote yourself single-mindedly to anything you do.
And that can be anything. You can focus on your work, writing, washing dishes, talking to someone, reading something or running or even eating a cupcake.
The Main Issue: Divided Attention
When you are studying, you are thinking about some movie. When you are watching some video, you are thinking about studying. You are living a distorted life. There is no charm to whatever place you go. There is no quality to whatever work you do.
You may be smart, intelligent, and a perfectionist. You may be in love with the subject, and you may be following your passion. But when your mind is disconnected from your work, you don’t feel the joy of doing it. You find yourself lonely in a party. You are surrounded by friends when you are alone. Life’s not right this way.
Being able to handle a situation single-mindedly is a tool for the titan.
Handling the Task at Hand
Multitasking is taking over our lives. We are supposed to handle more than one person, more than one situation, more than one activity and many problems at the same time. This is a necessity, but when you are handling a matter, you should be single-mindedly dealing with it and not getting distracted or confused by the others.
In no way should this mean you should not combine activities? It’s alright. But you have to make sure you are sharp and alert and focused enough to be able to work on a task without getting distracted.
What if you single-mindedly started working on a business project? What if you single-mindedly began studying? What if you single-mindedly ate your dinner? What if you became mindful and alert to everything in your life? The possibilities are endless.
There is a straightforward way to achieve this state of mind. It is the Nitaai Breathing excercise.
Nitaai Sound Focuses the Mind
The practice itself turns you into a witness. You become single-minded. You don’t have to worry about being focused or not procrastinating. Your emotions and thoughts and plans begin to channel and organise themselves. You can concentrate on a subject and not worry about many situations that are important to you, which you can tackle later.
When you are about to start something, exhale the Nitaai sound. Then pause to notice what you are doing. Set an intention to be fully devoted to that activity for a period of time. The sound of Nitaai will penetrate your body and spread the vibration of relaxation and mindfulness throughout your body.
The Nitaai sound is such. You can practice it anytime to create your frequency and environment of peace and serenity. Exhale the sound for just 10-15 minutes and you will feel completely focused and ready to do the task at hand with all your mind and heart.
The technique is simple. All you have to do is take a deep breath in and then audibly exhale the Nitaai sound. You can sing it, resonate it, dance to it or meditate to it. There are no hard and fast rules. Just make it the first thing you do before starting any work and you are good to go.
