Back in the 1980’s, self-improvement was different. It was about little tips and tricks to improve life. It was much different from how we perceive self-improvement today. When it comes to self-improvement, we are trying to develop a part of our life. This could be either mental or physical. For the most part, self-improvement is a list of suggestions we can follow in our day to day life.
Practice gratitude everyday. Hit the gym. Stop watching the news. Ask for help. Act out of want. Question the normal. Be humble. Dress like a gentleman. Smile. Build a positive environment around you.
These things are good. No doubt. But they only focus on the conscious action. You can practice them for some time, but if your subconscious patterns are not aligned with your deliberate effort, you will feel a disconnection. You won’t enjoy what you are doing. Your willpower will take a downward spiral. You will think that what you are doing is a chore. And this is a wrong way to improve your life.
Altering One’s Self Image
If you want to take your self-improvement to the next level, there is a better solution. You will have to change your self-image. In his book Psycho-Cybernetics, author Maxwell Maltz talks about how we influence our mind and performance based on our self-image. For example, he discovered that a salesman making $50,000 every year was stuck with the number. Sometimes he would take a full month to get to this number and sometimes he would achieve it in the first half of the month. But even though he was reaching his targets early, his self-image was stuck with that number. He didn’t work hard or try to make more commission for the rest of the month.
The stronger your self-image, the better your life will be. In the book, he talked about how self-image can be altered and improved using visualization and other techniques. The feeling of confidence, happiness, love, control, gratitude, satisfaction, improvement and an ideal life are some of the visualizations you can do. Write down a story and start visualizing that story in your mind.
But the technique is not complete. When you are unhappy or depressed, you don’t feel like altering your self-image. You just want to be the person you have become. You are desperately in need of love. You are urgently looking for self-love. In such times, techniques come secondary. You need a push. You need something that can get you started on the path.
Nitaai Breathing will get you started. Exhale the Nitaai sound audibly, and you will begin to feel confident, relaxed and blissful. You will become mindful of your surroundings. You will become a witness. You will start feeling better from the first time you do it. Little bursts of positive energy will take over your mind and body. You will be filled with pure-positive energy to start something. It will help you cultivate consistency.
Try Nitaai Breathing. Do it every day. When you start feeling good about yourself, you will be in a state of pure consciousness. You will be able to use the technique of visualization efficiently and with eagerness. Achieving goals is so much easier when you are capable of consistently visualizing them.
